Curriculum Resources

English/Language Arts

Our English Language Arts curriculum is built on Units of Study in Reading, Writing, and Phonics, which provide a research-based framework for developing strong, independent readers and writers. Through these units, students engage in authentic reading and writing experiences that build comprehension, vocabulary, fluency, and a love of literacy. To support early literacy development, we also use Heggerty Phonemic Awareness, a daily, systematic program that strengthens students’ ability to hear, identify, and manipulate sounds in words—an essential foundation for successful reading and spelling. Together, these programs ensure a balanced and comprehensive approach to English Language Arts instruction across all grade levels.

Mathematics

Our mathematics curriculum is grounded in i-Ready Classroom Mathematics, a comprehensive, standards-based program that promotes deep understanding of mathematical concepts and problem-solving skills. Through a balance of teacher-led instruction, collaborative learning, and individualized practice, students build confidence and proficiency in math. The program encourages students to think critically, explain their reasoning, and apply mathematical concepts to real-world situations. With embedded tools for differentiation and data-driven instruction, i-Ready Classroom Mathematics helps meet the needs of all learners while fostering a positive and engaging math classroom experience.

Science

Science instruction is aligned to the Illinois Learning Standards which are based on the Next Generation Science Standards. The goal of instruction is to aid students in developing an understanding of science and engineering concepts and to apply that knowledge in several different contexts. Currently, our kindergarten through 5th grade classrooms use the Exploring Science series by National Geographic while 6th through 8th grade classrooms use Elevate Science by Savvas.
